In 2021, there was no shortage of action at AGF!
First of all, early in the year, the company bought back the capital shares of the Fonds de Solidarité and Investissement Québec. That proves the great solidity of the Group. As a result, the board of directors was transformed into an advisory committee.
It’s no surprise that managing the pandemic called for constant agility, but the main disruptive event was the lightning speed with which the price of our raw material—reinforcing steel—soared. In fact, over the course of a year, costs rose by 48%!
Despite these headwinds, we managed to increase our deliveries by 27% over the previous year, setting a new production record. Congratulations and thanks to all our teams for this performance.
In the same vein, I’m very proud of the Family Enterprise of the Year Award, Quebec section, which was presented to the AGF Group this past November. This award belongs to all the members of the team, who make up this extraordinary family.
As the year drew to a close, AGF acquired a stake in EMCA, a recognized expert in rebar installation in Europe, headquarted in France.
I foresee great things for AGF in 2022, with an order book 10% higher than the previous year.
However, we will need to remain vigilant and make sure we stay on top of the hot issues:
– the labour shortage
– succession planning
– information security
– our supply chain
– our employees’ mental health.
As you can see, we have some big challenges ahead of us, and I’m confident that with the strength of our teams, we will meet them with flying colours.

El 2021 ¡fue un año muy activo en AGF!
Para empezar, al inicio del año la empresa realizó la adquisición de las participaciones de “Fonds de Solidarité” y de “Investissement Québec” en capital accionario. De esta manera, el consejo de administración se convirtió en comité consultativo.
No les sorprenderá saber que la gestión de la pandemia requirió una agilidad constante, pero el principal evento perturbador fue la rapidez fulgurante en la que aumentaron los precios de nuestra materia prima: el acero de refuerzo. En efecto, en un año ¡los costos incrementaron un 48%!
A pesar de las circunstancias en contra, logramos la hazaña de aumentar nuestras entregas un 27% en comparación con el año anterior, estableciendo un récord de producción.
Felicidades a todos nuestros equipos por este desempeño. Análogamente, me enorgullece el premio de la empresa familiar del año, sección Quebec, otorgado a Grupo AGF en noviembre. Este premio les pertenece a todos los miembros del equipo, quienes forman esta familia extraordinaria.
Al final del año, AGF hizo su entrada en el capital de la sociedad E.M.C.A., reputados expertos en la instalación de acero de refuerzo en Europa, específicamente en Francia.
Para el año 2022, pronostico grandes momentos para AGF con una cartera de pedidos 10% superior al año precedente.
Sin embargo, será necesario estar atentos y asegurarse de bien manejar los expedientes urgentes:
– la escasez de mano de obra,
– la preparación de la sucesión,
– la seguridad de la información,
– nuestro abastecimiento,
– la salud mental de nuestros empleados.
Como pueden verlo, hay grandes desafíos frente a nosotros y tengo la confianza de que, con la fuerza de nuestros equipos, podremos superarlos con brío.
