On a job site or in a shop, every action counts. A forgotten PPE, an unsecured harness or poor posture can have serious consequences. That’s why, at AGF, health and safety (HSE) is not just a rule to memorize, but a reflex to build from day one.
A reimagined HSE onboarding program
This year, AGF reached a key milestone with the launch of a brand-new health and safety onboarding process. More than just an update, it represents a transformation of our approach to provide a consistent, engaging, and accessible experience for all new employees. Everything has been designed to ensure the information is understood, retained, and applied.
As our HSE Director – East of Canada, Julie Trépanier points out:
“The idea wasn’t just to modernize our tools, but to rethink our approach so that every new employee goes through the same experience, whether they’re working in a shop or on a job site.”
The program’s key components
- 35 interactive video capsules, clear and dynamic;
- an onboarding kit that gathers the essentials;
- hands-on modules to turn theory into concrete reflexes;
- meetings with foremen, to anchor learning into daily work.
A new employee’s experience in Trois-Rivières
At the shop of Trois-Rivières, Martial Eko’ola recently completed the new HSE training. His experience illustrates exactly what we aim to achieve:
“It’s organized and structured. At my previous job, we only received directives in the shop. Here, there’s a real process. The videos are interesting and clear. Next time, I’ll even take notes!”
For Martial, this new way of learning is simpler and clearer. It makes the training easier to follow, encourages him to stay engaged, and gives him the confidence to put safe practices into action from day one.
A progressive and evolving rollout
At AGF, health and safety is never static, it constantly evolves alongside our projects, innovations and on-site realities.
Ongoing training, awareness campaigns, toolkits, new technologies, each initiative helps nurture a collective, living culture where safety remains at the core of our practices.
Already implemented in our Canadian shops, the program will be rolled out on our job sites over the coming weeks. And this is just the beginning: our ambition is to raise our collective standards and, eventually, expand this initiative internationally.
