AGF and the REM

AGF Steel is proud to be involved in the Réseau express métropolitain (REM) public transit project. With a route covering a total distance of 67 km, the REM is a fast and modern way to commute between the North Shore and the South Shore of Montreal.

Early this summer, we were awarded a first contract for the completion of one of the South Shore segments.

Our teams are currently working on the pillars that will support one of the REM’s suspended structures.

More specifically, we are producing the caissons that will be anchored to the ground, as well as the columns and the cross-sections of the pillars (see illustration below).

Since we are operating in a tight time frame, a maximum number of parts is pre-assembled at our Longueuil facility. Certain elements are added directly on the job site.

On August 8, we delivered the first pre-assembled steel-reinforced caisson on the job site. As of August 29, we had fabricated 100 tons of reinforcing steel.

The detailers in charge of this contract are Magalie DeBlois and Kian Maghare.

AGF y el proyecto REM

Acier AGF participa orgullosamente en el proyecto del Réseau Express Métropolitain (REM). Esta red de transporte público que recorrerá 67 km representa un medio moderno y rápido para transportarse entre la Ribera Norte y la Ribera Sur de Montreal.

A principios del verano obtuvimos el primer contrato para la realización de uno de los segmentos de la Ribera Sur.

Actualmente, nuestros equipos trabajan en los pilares que sostendrán una de las estructuras aéreas del REM. Más concretamente, producimos los casetones que se fijan en el suelo, así como las columnas y los brochales de los pilares (consulte el esquema a continuación).

El cronograma de ejecución es muy ajustado. El máximo de piezas es preensamblado en nuestra fábrica de Longueuil y otros elementos se añaden en la obra.

El 8 de agosto entregamos el primer casetón preensamblado con acero de refuerzo en la obra. El 29 de agosto se habían fabricado ya una centena de toneladas de acero.
