At AGF, contributing to a more sustainable future means getting involved in meaningful, tangible projects. That’s why we’re proud to take part in the construction of the Calgary Compost Facility, a project that combines innovation, environmental performance and strong collaboration.
A project with the future in mind
In partnership with Bird Construction and Maple-Nason Chinook DBJV, AGF fabricating and placing 518 tons of rebar for this essential infrastructure, which supports the responsible management of organic waste in the Calgary region.
Behind these numbers lies a clear ambition: to create a facility capable of efficiently transforming food and yard waste into high-quality compost using a cutting-edge technical process.
At the heart of the project: the processing centre
The AGF Rebar Calgary’s team is currently focused on the organic waste processing centre, a key part of the project where material is blended with soil, water and heat. This precise process accelerates natural decomposition while producing nutrient-rich compost, useful for agriculture and landscaping.
More than ten of our colleagues are working on the so-called ”digester unit”, an impressive system equipped with rotating arms that ensure optimal mixing. It’s a well-oiled machine, powered by the expertise of our people on the ground.
A strong and smooth collaboration
Launched in May 2024, the project is expected to be completed by December 2025. It reflects not only our ability to deliver large-scale, high-impact solutions, but also the strength of our collaboration with trusted partners.
Each milestone reached and every ton of steel installed brings us one step closer to a shared goal: providing Calgary with a practical solution to reduce its environmental footprint while smartly repurposing residual waste.
