The construction of the Metz Condo project in Kitchener, Ontario, is progressing significantly. This is a residential project consisting of three buildings. In partnership with Stonerise Construction Inc. and RWH Engineering Inc., AGF Rebar is responsible for both supplying and installing the rebar.
Project Technical Details
The project is currently in Phase 1, with an estimated weight of 3,500 metric tons of rebar. Between 15 and 20 AGF employees are actively working on site. The project includes a two-level parking garage and three residential towers, each consisting of eight floors and a mechanical floor.
The design is particularly complex, featuring up to five layers of rebar in both the lower and upper mats, as well as additional reinforcement, requiring great precision in both detailing and installation.
This fast-track project is designed to keep pace with a tight schedule, which is why site activities and construction work are progressing simultaneously. AGF is currently producing shop drawings and placing more than 250 tons of rebar each month. As the project advances, particularly during the summer months, an increase in the monthly tonnage is anticipated.
AGF’s contribution to the project began with detailing in September 2024, followed by the installation of rebar in February 2025. According to the timeline, AGF will be involved in the work until April 2026, while the entire project is anticipated to be completed by January 2028.
As construction progresses, the Metz Condos is set to be a significant addition to the residential landscape of Kitchener, showcasing innovative design and construction techniques.
