Since August 2022, the Jacques Bizard Bridge replacement project, connecting Montreal to Île Bizard, has been underway. The construction site involves the installation of 640 tons of reinforcing steel.
The bridge, with a length of 234 meters and comprising 6 axes (2 abutments and 4 piers), presents a major technical challenge for the AGF Rebar team.
The work is being carried out over water, requiring innovative solutions for the design of the bridge piers.
AGF is currently responsible for implementing a deck incorporating transverse prestressing through post-tensioning. We have also been tasked with installing and tensioning 232 cables using the Dywidag system.
One of the greatest logistical challenges of this project has been the delivery of the deck. Indeed, the reinforcing steel had to be delivered directly onto the new bridge, which extends the existing bridge. This setup demands exemplary coordination between field teams and logistical partners to ensure operations proceed smoothly without compromising safety or timelines.
This project, which will continue until the end of September 2024, is an excellent example of the know-how and expertise in reinforcing steel of our teams at AGF.
We are proud to contribute to the construction of this bridge, which will become a crucial element of the region’s infrastructure.
